"Falling in love is the beginning of all wisdom, all sympathy, all compassion, all art, all religion; and in its larger sense is the one thing in life worth doing." Elbert Hubbard
*****
It starts slow.
At first he can’t stand the man. He’s too annoying, weird and mysterious. He never seems to take things seriously, never fully explains his actions. He can’t be trusted.
Even so he gradually learns to respect him, his knowledge and strength, his dedication to their cause.
It isn’t until he can’t stop thinking about him, not even in his dreams that he realizes the respect has turned into something else. Something scary enough to be love.
*****
It happens quickly.
He’s completely fascinated by the teen. He’s stubborn and argumentative yet so passionate and loyal. He draws people to him effortlessly and never realizes why. He’s a wonderful new puzzle waiting to be figured out.
The urge to make him his, to claim him for his own, is overwhelming. Only the risk of losing the man’s cooperation holds him back. He’s too valuable to lose this early in the game.
It catches him off guard when his heart tightens painfully as he watches the man’s defeat at the hands of Ulquiorra; it warns him that the lust has changed into something else. Something that hurts enough to be love.

The theme is perfect for the tone of this little piece. I really, really enjoyed it.
Is this going to be a series of ficlets or am I just being greedy? *giggle*

A lot of my drabbles are along the same vein, don't know if I'll do a specfic follow up to this or not. Something to think about.
